Summersville
School is a K-8 public
school located in southern Illinois on the east side of Mt. Vernon,
Illinois, approximately half-way between St. Louis, Missouri and
Evansville, Indiana at the intersection of Interstate 57 and Interstate
64. Summersville has attained a reputation as a school with high
academic standards as well as a wide variety of quality
extra-curricular activities.
At
the
beginning of the 2002 school year, Summersville opened two new
additions which included ten new classrooms and a new activities
center. In addition, major changes and renovations were made throughout
the existing structure which brings Summersville up to totally complete
and functional physical facilities to accommodate today's educational
needs.
Summersville
has developed a
Primary Emphasis Program over the past several years which has a goal
of having all students at grade level by the end of the third grade.
This program has achieved great success and has become a model program
for other schools in the state. The upper grades (5 through 8) are
departmentalized, incorporating subject area specialists in the major
subject areas.
An
outstanding and dedicated administration, faculty and staff
provides high quality instruction and leadership to our
