Chorus

The chorus program at Summersville School has enjoyed a long tradition of high quality performances, a large number of transfers to the Mt. Vernon Township High School Choruses and strong parental and community support.  The chorus performs two regular concerts per year and at local service clubs. Also, the Summersville School Chorus performs in the annual Jefferson County Music In Our Schools Concert. In 1992 the Summersville Chorus sang the Brazilian National Anthem and the American National Anthem for the Consulate General of Brazil, located in Chicago, for the Mt. Vernon World Affairs Forum, a program to expand international good will and understanding among nations and their citizens.  In addition, the chorus provides the opportunity for students to perform in the annual Illinois Grade School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Contests and Organization Contests.  The Summersville Chorus has compiled an impressive record of high ratings in these contests.  The past thirteen years have yielded the following results for chorus organization State contests:
